A place in context
See how a place relates to the neighborhood around it — businesses, services, and everyday life.
Places in context
An independent project turning millions of scattered records into a way to understand places, discover opportunities, and see patterns that would otherwise go unnoticed.
For business owners, researchers, analysts,
and curious minds.
See how a place relates to the neighborhood around it — businesses, services, and everyday life.
Understand what people say, through reviews, recurring themes, and public sources.
Explore opening hours and typical activity to see when a place comes to life.
Investigate similar places, complementary services, and possibilities around them.
Explore a place
A business you run. A neighborhood you work in. A location you’re considering. Follow a first clue and discover the context around it.
Try exploring a city
Starting with São Paulo. More cities ahead.
Identity, activity, and location.
Each place has a story.
Explore further
Follow a question to discover new perspectives. There is more than one way to understand a place.
Two cafés can play very different roles. Read their services, attributes, and surroundings together to understand what makes each one distinct.
Review texts and structured answers can reveal what people value, recommend, or find difficult. The available reviews are a sample, not every visitor’s experience.
Opening hours and popular times describe different things: when a place is open and its typical relative activity. Popular times are not live visitor counts.
Explore nearby businesses and related places. Proximity, a shared category, and a source’s suggested connection each offer a different starting point for investigation.
Built on real-world data
We bring together public records about businesses, locations, categories, reviews, and hours to reveal what makes a place one of a kind.

PlaceInsight is an independent project connecting public business records and place information. What is available varies by place and source; an absent field is not evidence that a service or attribute does not exist.
The public explorer currently covers São Paulo. NYC, San Francisco, and Paris are planned additions. Illustrations on this page are conceptual, and the interactive diagram is an example.
Reviews are partial perspectives, popular times show relative activity, and related places are source suggestions. These signals help frame a question; they do not by themselves establish demand, footfall, or commercial performance.
Look up a Brazilian business registration number (CNPJ) to get its legal name, postal code, coordinates, and activity code. No key required; up to 10 requests per minute per IP.
